Howdy Folks,
I realize I am New around here and have a couple of questions about the fly swaps that happen around here.....
Can someone like me start up a swap?
Or is there a Peckin order?
Thanks
Jeffro

give it a try. people are headed fishing now and you might not get much response but you never know until you try.

Thanks Eric,
I was just wondering about this cuz I tried to join in on the April swap but I was told that it was full up and I understood that all those guys were booked for a whole year.
I have been a Meister several times on another Forum and had some big fun and had some of the top Tyers in the country and as far away as Sweden.
We were Humble to one another and that still stands today.
I was just wondering if it was Ok for a newbee to get another swap goin or If we had ta wait till someone speaks up with a proposal.
Thanks again Eric

You can start a swap, and there is no Peckin order with swaps. First come, first served. We did have a dry period for a while where we had trouble getting people to host, so I would encourage you to start something if you are interested. And keep an eye on the board, there will probably be a new one starting soon.
The swap you are talking in your second post about is actually part of a bigger swap called the swap of the month. The people in it commit to 12 swaps throughout the year, and every month they do a new one and take turns picking the theme and hosting. Once filled (back in December), there won't be any openings unless one of the committed tyers has to drop out. So you aren't being snubbed or anything like that, it is just a long term project that you came upon that is already in progress.
Hope this helps, and welcome to FAOL.

hay, jeffro! can we do Pike flies?
fly fishing and baseball share a totally deceptive simplicity; that's why they can both be lifelong pursuits.
BTW, I just posted a swap for warmwater species. You are welcome if you are interested.
