Default We need to add a forum topic!

Normand got me thinking with his fly box I would love to see a new topic added for DIY things, I like to tinker (and save money!). What do you all think of this?

Even though most times I spend more on a DIY than just going out an purchasing it that's a definite!! The early editions of FLY TYER mag. had numerous articles on making things like Zonker strip cutters from wooden yardsticks, Wading sticks, etc. for DIY'ers.

when the forum was being bombarded by furled leader posts awhile ago, i asked if a "furled leader topic" could be created. well that didnt happen and i wouldnt hold my breathe waiting for a "diy topic" to happen

I think Normand is correct, but I'll add my vote for a 'make it yourself' forum.

Lots of us like to tinker, and some of the ideas are worth sharing.

You've got my vote. Some of the coolest things
on the board are thing's guy's have built or just
came up with a better way get something done.
I think the very nature of people who fly fish
is to find a way of doing yourself. I would really
like to see a new section just for these things.

There IS a tips section for brief articles etc... That makes it a more durable format (easier to find years later) than threads. The advantage to threads is that they can be used to refine the idea by multiple posters.

Also threads allow for a quicker, simpler, easier submission....I'm sure more ideas would be submitted to a thread...I saw one site that made such a thread ...a sticky.... but a separate forum would be easier.
