    Default S & M Bobbins/Originals

Speaking of bobbins does anyone know where I can buy original S & M bobbins with the short stem?

In post #19 of the previous bobbin thread (no pun intended) http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/s...t=33655&page=2

it said that the company went out of business. Looking around the interweb, I don't see anybody that sells the old standard short-tube models (some long-tubes on EBay but I never cared for them much). I'm sure not going to pay $15-20 for the new "Wasatch" version that Orvis is pushing; luckily I've acquired about 10 of them over the years. If you find some, let me know, I'm always in the market for another one or two.

    Regards,
    Scott

Don't know about 'originals' but maybe these would do in a pinch?

I have 3 of the short stem models and 1 of the long stem model. The one in the picture shows some age but I feel it can be cleaned up and useable. If anyone is interested in them and since I do not use them, I am willing to let them go to someone who will use them. As to cost, I am an odd person and do not fit in the social group real well and, I guess, somewhat of a loner. I have tried to change to fit into the "in crowd" but have decided I am not real fond of the some of the ways of the "in crowd" and enjoy being alone when I want to be alone. I do love to share any knowledge to anyone that is really interested expecially when it comes to fly fishing or fly tying and I do not like to introduce money into something I enjoy. If you spend your hard earned money on something you think you want and then do not like it, you feel bad about the deal and that is not good. I love to barter. We all have something or some sort of talent that we can share with others in trade for something they are willing to part with and leave the money part out. So, I intend to spend more time this season away from my getting crowded trout streams and spend some time on the warmwater parts in search of smallmouth bass. I have been tying up clousers and poppers for this and would enjoy swapping out these bobbins for either your clousers/poppers or maybe the material for tying them. So, that is the deal for anyone who wants to join in. Let me know what you want to barter and we will make a deal and both be happy in the end because we both parted with something that we no longer use and will not miss or can replace very easily.

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.

John Marona, the former owner of the Quiet Sports Fly Shop and the S&M bobbins always has a large booth selling fly material at our club fly expo, which happens to be coming up a week from Saturday on February 6
I'm not sure if he'll still has the bobbins, but most everything he sells is stock from his old shop
