    Default Computer service

So we got a computer with Windows VISTA and it is eligible for an upgrade to Win7. The will be nice enough to send this to me.....HOWEVER...in order to do this I have to have the serial number.
The serial number has like six total zeroes OR Os. There is no slash thru them so I did them all as Os and then all as zeroes. The system keeps telling me it is an incorrect serial number. I could type the combination of zeroes or Os all day long and not get it correct.

What on earth do you do then?

I will see if I can track down a phone number but one of the ones I called asked for.....you guessed it........ the serial number to get thru to them.

    ARRGH!!
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.

    key code
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (i cant give you the actual numbers)

and the dell serial number is xxxxxxx (i cant give you the actual number)

I just installed Windows on a blank hard drive. All I needed was the key code.
Bunch of digits, like Normand shows.
To talk to someone, or get any kind of support, you need your Service Tag #.
Mine is is seven digits. Should be on your computer somewhere.

There are six ZEROS or O's in the serial number. There are like 15 total numbers and letters.

I had to speak Indian English

Got it done. Had a free upgrade to Win7 from VISTA. What a nightmare the website is to do it from!!
