Loved it. Thanks for sharing. I watched it twice; a great why to wind down after a lousy day.

    Thanks,

A few years ago, I was fishing in a residential pond. I had a 4-weight rod, floating line and a chartreuse, No. 10 popper. I saw a grass carp cruising on the surface and cast the popper out about 10 feet in front of it. The fish swam up to the fly and inhaled it. It was my one and only carp on a surface fly.

A friend on mine in South Florida used to go after grass carp with "ficus flies." Carp in canals down there would feed on ficus berries that would drop in the water.

However, they discovered that the gills of the grass carp would rupture during the fight and most of the fish died as a result. So, they no longer try to catch them.

Love that water drag system he has on that reel.

    And the my-arm-is-tired-behind-the-neck rod trick.

Now that is cool! I've never seen a carp rise to surface flies like that.
