Thread: Internet Explorer 8 Causing Problems

Default Internet Explorer 8 Causing Problems

Since I upgraded to the latest version of IE, I sporadically have trouble accessing FAOL. Sometimes the system allows it to come up and sometimes I get a message that the site has been blocked. Any suggestions? Several othe sites that I "used to frequent" seem to be permanently blocked.

Under settings, preferences, or something like that, there should be another tab or option for privacy and/or security. You should be able to unblock things there.

Of course, you can always switch to something like Firefox, Chrome, or Safari to eliminate the problem as well.

i had the same problem when i upgraded to E8 few months back. i always had problems using Internet Explorer (6-7- and finally last year august, i changed my browser to FIREFOX. It updates less frequently than IE, it is awfully lot faster than IE and in general, it is better than IE. try using FIREFOX.

If you still want to use IE. try this.
    Open your browser.
Go to Tools->Internet options-> Security TAB.
click on INTERNET and set the bar to MEDIUM-HIGH
click on Trusted sites and set the bar to MEDIUM
click on Restricted sites and then click SITES. see if FAOL is in there and remove it from the list.

this is all i know......... sorry

Best way to fix IE (any version): Point it to google.com, search 'Mozilla Firefox' or 'Google Chrome', head to the first site returned and DL the featured software.

Once DLed, install the software and move all files marked 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' to the recycle bin.

I have had some problems also after installing the Internet Explorer 8. Been ok so far with FAOL website but have had problems with some other web sites I go to often. I called one of them and told them what was happening and they told me that when I got to their website to turn off my pop-up blocker. Once I did that I could access their entire website. When I exit their site I turn the pop-up blocker back on. Never had these problems before I installed Explorer 8.

    Chrome works GREAT!

With my lap top I get "pops" with IE all the time.
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
