You can normally buy a basic round tube for about $50 new. Try the mainstream sporting goods stores (Sports Authority, Big5, etc).

Cabelas has their Creek Company U-tube combo (fins and pump included) on sale for $80

I have a creek company U Tube and it works great. paid like $60 bucks for it new. Just letting u know that while not expensive, it is a decent tube and will let you get your feet wet (no pun intended) tubing.

Check craigslist. I just bought a Caddis u-shape tube in great shape with a car-outlet pump yesterday for $40. It only took checking craigslist daily for about a week to find the one I wanted.

Check out this one. Most of value is in the Force Fins. Maybe tube only? In any event, get one in this style.

thank you all for the help. I was able to score a browning float tube called the aggressor today for 5 bucks. brand new too. Will need to get a new backrest badder. The original one has thermal welds that are weak and letting go really bad have fixed it but it wont stay fixed. the gentleman had no clue what it was. their are some straps that i'm not sure what their used for but they look like suspenders. and the truck tire tube seem to be in great shape.
