To help you understand, the stages don't reflect how fast spreading the disease is, they are a measure of how much it's already spread. Breast cancer is usually there for years before it's noticeable enough to be diagnosed. There are several types of stage 3; they describe different ways that it has spread to nearby lymph nodes. It hasn't spread to any other organ.
The hopeful news is that post-menopausal women have a much better prognosis than younger women. She can beat this.
