thanks everyone! the flys arrived and are really neat--very fishy indeed.

Flies arrived in todays post. Very well done, one and all. There are some extremely fishy patterns in there. Funny how one's treasure is another's trash. I was looking at some of the materials on these flies thinking.."I gotta get me some of that".

Thanks to everyone for participating and to Diane for hosting such a well run swap.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the flies. Me, too! Here's a recipe for mine.

    Big Daddy Bugger

Hook: streamer hook in your favorite size (8 is a good one)
    Head: Brass bead or cone
    Thread: olive
Tail: olive striated marabou and crystal flash (any color you like - I went with greenish)
    Hackle: olive/brown saddle hackle
Body: Doug Swisher's Mr. Peacock Big Daddy Dubbing in one of the green colors

The dubbing was put on with a dubbing loop. The rubber legs may need a little trimming once you've got the dubbing on the hook. The marabou I used was the worst package of the stuff I've ever used. Very few of the feathers were fluffy or large enough. I won't be buying any more from that supplier but I did like the black stripes. The dubbing comes in several colors and the others would also be great for buggers. I love Mr. Peacock dubbing of all sorts.
