Thread: (previous) fly of the week archive

Default (previous) fly of the week archive

I was looking though the fly of the archive and I saw a fly called the "BLACK WOLLY WORM". But to me the fly looked like a red butt wolly worm. And the red but wolly to me looks like a bluegill killer. Just wondered if the patterns were based off of each other.

    thanks,

    FK93,
As you tie more, most come to realize that there are only about 6 parts to a fly. Tail, body, wing, collar, beard, etc. ALL flies are merely an elimination of or a modification (by application or material used) of one of these parts. RECIPES change greatly while the basics remain constant.
    Enjoy the "journey"....
