Default The Sun Sets On Another Season

Wednesday is the last day of the Wisconsin Small Stream Trout Season.
That 5 month closed season really gets long.

    That's awful!

Most trout streams in PA are open all year, less about 1 month. Special regs. areas are often open year-round.

That does stink! Here in GA many small streams close but our best waters are either year round or DH regs minus a few special regs which are all year round.

Len, that's a real purty picture denoting a sad time in the lives of Wisconson fisherman. You can always come out here and fish.
I'm either going to, coming from or thinking about fishing. Jim

Season ends for most trout fishing in Ontario too....thank God there's steelhead though....can't wait to be out fishing in snow storm wearing long johns inside waders, layer after layer of clothes, with guides icing up....seriously....OK I guess I'm crazy....no make that I AM CRAZY LOL LOL....but catching a steelhead on a fly is so much fun....but I will miss going after trout on my favourite streams....got into some nice brookies yesterday....pretty fish....not big (largest was 13 incher caught by my buddy....good fish for this water)....but got on dry....so let's see only about 206 days after Wednesday before season starts up again
    Tight Lines,

    P.S. Great picture.
"No matter how complicated life can get -- remember life is sometimes like fly fishing; after turning over every rock in the river trying to "match the hatch", you have probably spooked every fish for miles -- so don't let the "little things" BUG you -- just enjoy whatever you find." Default Arsis and thesis.

Our Michigan streams(inland) are put to bed also on the last day of September. I, too, wish that it weren't such a long period of rest but we do have some tribs to the Great Lakes which are open year round as well as some C/R stretches of well-known rivers. That being said, I always enjoy the anticipaction of "Opening Day" to get back and revisit some of my favorite waters and friends who enjoy fishing them. During the hiatus my tying takes on a quieter, less hectic pace; I explore some other avenues of the art which my pragmatic side doesn't allow during the heat of the season. And it's always fun to contemplate, plan trips, lay out itineraries, and the like. I think it is good for my psyche, the suspension and resolution, tension and release of a season...without a "Closed for the Season", there could never be an "Opener".
Thank you , Len, for the beautiful stories and excellent pictures you gift us with. You are one of the many treasures found here on FAOL.
    Peace
    Mark
