Reputation?

I went to my User Control Panel and noticed that 5 of my posts are listed in a box marked "Latest Reputation Received." I'm curious what this reputation thing is all about. Anybody know? I hope it's not a bad thing.

Steve you crack me up. I finally found out it's a good thing (depending.) If I wasn't dumber than a box of rocks sometimes, I'd have figured it out before posting.

Since the infractions tab on your profile is blank, I think you're probably safe, for now. Just don't start hanging out with those bad apples in the NBOF.

I would not be so sure about that, I don't have an infraction tab...

It's not used by FAOL, it's too subjective. If it was used the board would be a popularity contest, and that doesn't work. It is a great indicator to how others feel about you though. Since it's rarely used, you have to consider that positive or negative reputation points are in direct response to something extra special you did good or bad.

In Steve's case...
Teasing members = 95% of the reputation points needed to be banned.
Oh wait, we don't use them ... drat.

That little scales in the upper right of each post is the rep button. If you like someone's post, you can hit that and give them rep points. Likewise, if you think they made a horrible post...flaming someone, harassing newbies, or fishing for carp , you can give them neg rep. It's just another feedback tool.

I once stated my opinion about that particular little widget at the risk of bringing down the wrath of the late Mr. Castwell. He was actually very kind to me despite the fact that I expressed my then, and still, existing dislike of such tings as the reputatuion widget. The thing should be gone!

Joe, you don't have anything to worry about. It's loud mouths like me that need to worry. Then again I really don't worry too much anymore who I make mad enough to give me a bad reputation other than Him, the only one who counts.
