I'm looking for a descent but cheap 3wt fly reel. If you're thinking about selling one send me a line and we might do business.
Thanks

Martin, with a 3 wt all your doing is storing a line, you really don't need a drag etc, I put a 1492 1/2 medalist on my daughters 4 wt and it is a great little reel for the price, unfortunately its right hand only. if you need a left hand model I can suggest a Ross flystart, my son uses one on his two weight and loves it.

Thanks Eric.

Orvis Clearwater 2...under $50. I have several and they work just fine.

I like reels a little larger, this is metal and not plastic.
The Dogwood Canyon and Hobbs Creek reels from Bass Pro Shops are all metal with decent disc drags systems. I have landed a couple of 5.5 lbs LMB, 7 lb class grass carp and channel cats on my 3 wt depending heavily on the drags. They are around $35 - 40.

Cool, I don't want to spend more than $ 50 on a 3wt.
Thanks for the help gents, I really appreciate it.

There are a lot of nice reels out there for you and I will not post a pro or con on each one because I do not own all of them to give you an accurate evaluation. I do own an Okuma 4/5 and I am very happy with it's performance and you cannot beat the price. I am sure there are others out there which would equal it. For me, the Okuma 4/5 has a good feel to it and is rugged.

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
