    Question Best Gurgle Pop Colors

I don't know if this was ever discussed, but what do you find are the best Gurgle Pop color combinations? What sizes should I tie for smallies? I couldn't find a link to a thread. If there is one, please excuse this post.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Most are sick of me posting this info but I'll repeat...Gamakatsu #4 Bass stinger hook, I use natural Kip Tail, chart. foam and yellow rubber legs....I DO NOT use sili legs, they tend to stick together on this fly.

B10S is the Gama # they are fairly short shanked and have what I think is the perfact gap...HOOK-UP RATES ARE INCREDIBLE.

Foam can be found at Wal-mart if your local shop doesn't stock Chart.

Have I mentioned this is about the only fly I use for Smallies?

    Default Sorry

I'm sorry if this is repetitive. I have the Gurgle Pop link I was just interested in hearing what colors are your favorites.
    Thanks Again,
    Bruce

Chartreuse, of course, but I also like black/red, black, black/white, white, purple and orange. I did real well a couple years ago on blue, but haven't had real good luck on it since.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

For bluegill and sometimes bass, I've used a yellow foam with red congo hair tail & abdomen tied with red flat waxed nylon on a size 10 dry fly hook. I've also tied this with pink foam black congo hair and black flat waxed nylon, again size 10 dry fly hook.

brhoff: is the b10s in size 4 a pretty big hook? When you tie on that hook do you use faom the same width as the hook gap?

I've never tied a gurgle pop that large, sounds interesting.

    lastchance,

Sorry, misread your request. I tie a variety of colors, but yellow and black are my favorite. Sometimes I add a second layer of the main body foam in the contrasting color

Big Bad Wulff, sorry I am not that technical.

brhoff, thanks for adding the link.

Anyway you slice it a great, easy to tie, inexpensive fly that catches fish!!

    Default Fish are colorblind

I have read several scientific studies that concluded fish are colorblind. Others take exactly the opposite position. "If it ain't chartreuse it ain't no use."
Whether they are or not, the key to an attractive bait is CONTRAST.
Black/yellow, white/red, chartreuse and anything contrasting.
