Anyone ever order from this site. themightyfly.com? Just wondering of the quality of the flys.

Baggy? Why on earth would you even consider ordering from them when we have several VERY good and reputable companies who sell flies as Sponsors on FAOL? Have you even seen the Sponsor page? One reason to consider them is that they are cheap and some folks are guided by the neccesity of what is in their budget. Flies might well be junk, but may be OK. I guess that might make me ask.

Yes, I have and they have great dry flies and they ship fast. Also, there is [url=http://www.flydealflies.com:5cc21]www.flydealflies.com[/url:5cc21] - roland the owner is a great guy and has a large selection of flies - have to order 5 dozen but they are .50 cents each - seven bucks or so per dozen - no one cheaper - but the quality is there - he also can have custom flies tied for you if you want something that he does not offer. rgds...

I imagine costomers will get what they paid for, in the long run. I'm not just talking about cheap flies, either. I tend to tie my own, but the local fly shop sells a local tier's flies and he's more deserving of my devotion, as is his family. The old saying goes, "What goes around, comes around."

His job and earnings do effect my job and earnings. But I don't have to tell you that, I'd be preaching to the choir.

I have seen a few sites now in my quest for knowledge and have ran across a few companies that tie flies cheaper than the shops in my area. The reason i ask about these companies is cuz i am sooo new to the sport i am sure ill bust off a bunch with bad casts or crackin the whip. The shop in my area, there is only one, the fly cost for nymphs and drys are 1.85 and bead heads are 1.95 streamers are 2.25. Not a ton of money but when i start from zero flys it can get a bit steep.

I cant wait to get some time under my belt i am lookin forward to tryin my hand at tying my own.

I asked the mightyfly what hooks they use and they are tied on mustad and Teimpco or something like that.

One secret of cheap flies... Give each one a drop of head cement before you start to use them. I learned this one a long time ago when the oly flies I could afford were those cheap ones from the local variety store.

I would love to buy locally tied flies, but there is no fly shop in my area. Instead there is a Gander Mountain, where I can spend $1.49 a piece on flies tied in Africa, China etc. Or I could go to Hill's discount flies or Blueflycafe.com and buy the same flies for 60 cents a piece. Seems like a total no brainer to me.
