Default For the bird hunters on here...

Wingshooting starts off here in Kansas this morning with dove season.
Here's to hoping everybody has fun and stays safe from now until turkey season! May your game bags be full and your times afield be full of memories.

I worked today, wandering through the juniper hanging flagging. Total game seen: one mourning dove, one cottontail rabbit, one coyote, and one black bear. Found four 4-pt mule deer antlers on a little knoll, too.

PS 30 feet is way too close to encounter a bear.

No grouse not that I had a shotgun with me anyway.

Ended up with my limit of doves this evening! The best part was spending time one on one with my grandpa... We had a fun day.

Any chance you saved any skins, Kid? I know starling works beautifully on soft hackles. I'm pretty sure dove would have some interesting applications as well and the color is perfect for a lot of uses!

Now this thread is fly related. My job here is done

Dove hunting sure has sucked around here. If it weren't for barn pigeons, I wouldn't have anything to shoot, nor "wild" game to eat!
