I love this video, the guide teaching them to cast, they then get in the boat and forget everything he taught them.

And they couldn't help a little male bashing at the end.

Red face The guide must have been very proud!

Their fly casting was like a horrible, car accident. As much as you wanted to look away, you couldn't take you eyes off it. I've never seen loops openned quite that wide before. 8T

I think those two are paid to talk more than listen. After a 4 hour lesson they should have learned something. Reminded me of Laverne & Shirley.

Oh well, I would cut them a little slack.
After all, it was their very first attempt.

I know some men who have countless hours of instruction and still can't cast worth a hoot. Not that I'm going to win any contests!

My poor older brother just can not get it down!
I think he likes the thought of fly fishing rather than actually devoting the time to truly learn how.

The instructor took it all in stride.

When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.

I'm glad that they gave fly fishing some positive exposure and I am glad those two city slicker, girly girls were willing to give it a try. Yes, their casting was not like what anyone would expect from anyone who posts on FAOL, but you GOTTA start somewhere. The day did look windy and I really did connect with the guide telling the ladies to watch their line on the backstroke.

Bluntly I have been working with my wife this year and even though we use to spin fish together in years past and we still hunt together but she was turned off by the technical requirements of fly casting. If you boys had to teach her, many of you might have given up and that would be the real tradegy. Fly fishing is a wonderful gift to give anyone.

She has managed some nice fish this year and her loops are tighter than they have ever been. We have just started to work on her double haul since last time on the water we had gust to 30 mph and that is just tough no matter who you are.

We have been married 25 years and life is always better with her involved than without. If you guys are not taking your women with you fishing or your kids, you are really missing out.
