Default An FYI When Using Photobucket

Just thought I'd post this here since a recent mistake required my editing my fishing report "Dad and the Kid". As I was trying to print a copy of my post recently I realized that many of my pics were so large that they spread the print beyond printable tolerances and, not being able to fix that problem, I discovered that when I posted pics a bit smaller in the 640 x 480 size then I could print the pages correctly. Sooooo, being the computer nerd that I am I went to Photobucket and deleted all of my pictures in my FAOL file, resized them in my computer FAOL pic file and then took them back to Photobucket.
In that process, as I went back to my "Dad and the Kid" Fishing Reports post I found that most of the pictures linked to Photobucket were missing from the report due to my having deleted them from Photobucket, thus requiring my rebuilding of and editing those posts. Anyway, it was a real pain. Probably would have been simple for others in the know, but now it's fixed.
Good lesson learned, and my apologies to those who may have tried to read that thread and were disappointed at not finding any photos.

    Kelly...as one nerd to another...

I believe that you can resize them in photobucket....as I recall when I first started photobucket I had the option to pick the size.

Maybe you can't do it in retrospect once they are published???????

After doing the run-on thig myself a few times, I always resize my pics on my computer. I save them into a "Resized" directory that I upload from. That way, if I need the full-sized image, I have it. Photo Bucket has all kind of neat tricks in their arsenal. Resize, crop, color balance, and imaging tricks. Check out some of Len's (spinner1) threads. I believe he has done some of his trick shots in photobucket.

Cropped and Color Sketched, just a little.

As long as you save the changes in photobucket back to the same file, the name stays the same, and you don't have worry about any broken links.

Photobucket can automatically resize photos to what you want when you upload them. Choose 640X480 from the "reduce to" option just below the "Upload Images and Video" and "Choose Files" at the upper right side of your computer screen.

"Reduce to" options vary from 100X80 to 1024X768.

Thanks, guys for your responses. I did resize them on my computer, but now I know I can do it on Photobucket I'll make sure to utilize that tool.

Can't you print them from your "Pictures file" from your computer?
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
