Default Wire Diameter for spinner fly combo?

I'm going to tie up some spinner-fly combinations for Smallies. I have the wire formers but need know the diameter sizes for the wire. Anyone make them?

You can use 0.022 trolling wire and it is easy to bend but holds it's shape well. I look forward to seeing what you're tying up.
I've made up a few fly rod spinnerbaits like those tied by Tom Nixon. They make a heck of a noise going by your head. Here's a link to a video on tying them.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBddr...1453D&index=15

Thumbs up Great book on fly rod spinner baits!

    Hi KTB,

Ron Knight has a comprehensive book out on the subject of Fly Rod Spinner Baits, in fact that happens to be the title. He specifes the size of the hook, blade, and the wire for each type of lure. He goes into wire forming in great detail. There's even a section devoted to the casting and fishing of these lure. Much to his credit Ron has dedicated the book to Tom Nixon, the father of these lures. Frank Amoto is the publisher and the book goes to just $15.95. Full color too. 8T

    Default in line blade

Can you use an 4xl hook with in-line blades like these: ,,No wire forms needed.

    Default Hope I'm....

    Not hijacking the thread....

But has anyone ever tired just adding one of theses to an esisting fly? Like a bugger or other wet fly

On a trip earlier this year to a stocked trout river, a friend of mine caught 10:1 fish over me using a spinning rod with in-line spinners...thought these may even the field a little.

    Thanks
