Just a guess, but it should be pretty much in the middle to slow range. Most of the older Silver Labels are a bit slow.

I have almost the same rod in a 2wt that I really like. I'm not really sure how I would like that action translated to 5wt, but it should be a good small stream rod.

Silver Label rods used the same blanks as other rods in the Orvis line be it PM10, HLS, Superfine or what ever only using less expencive fittings. Unsanded blanks on all I believe. I had a PM10 silver label with unsanded blank.
Without knowing what blank it was made from its hard to tell the action....could have been very fast (PM10) or soft (Superfine)

    Diane,

I bought a Silver Label a couple of years ago and the action is described as Full Flex. It's a seven-foot, four weight and it's a real honey of a rod. Were the Silver Labels made in a variety of different actions (fast tip, mid flex and full flex) like the Clearwater series is today? Your fellow psychologist, 8T

I sort of remember that the Orvis Line started with the Trident, then Silver Label as the next best.
I have a 4pc 8'6" 5wt silver label that is in the medium fast range.

    Thanks, everyone!

Bugsy... nothing would make me happier. That's exactly what I was looking for.
