He's probably good for a 3 mile hike max! And I'd love to find a primitive campsite, though I imagine those are all gone by now. We'll be out there mid-july. any thoughts for a spot we can go and catch a few fish? Thanks!

Hey CP, I would reccomend The Big Thompson and Cub Creek in Moraine Park. The spot is crowded, but if you hit it on a week day iits not so bad and there is a campground there although you better get your reservations in right away as it fills up fast. The small freestone river meanders through the meadow and there are Elk and Deer. The fishing is easy enough for a six year old and so is the trail.

Lily Lake south just south of Estes Park has Greenback Cutthroat trout that you and your son might try fishing for, if hiking is not the order of the day. It is right next to Highway 7.
Here is a couple of sites to look at about fishing.
