I like it. I bought one with an extra spool for my wife, and it seems to be a pretty good reel. Silent retrieve and a quiet click when the drag runs. I have a bugati myself, and like both reels. Both are 5/6 weights.

Smernsky is referring to the GP rods...not the GP reels.
(I like the Bugatti reels better than the GP reels. I got the 8wt GP reel, and it really feels heavy for its size.)
As for the rods, I haven't tried the GP rods. I do have the A-5 rods in a 5wt and a 8wt, and really like them both.

I have a GP 7/8 that I use for freshwater sometimes. It's only powder coated (painted) so I don't use it in saltwater. It's a decent reel, especially at the price it now goes for. The Bugati is also a good buy, I have a 7/8 of that and it too is a decent reel. The Bugati is lighter; it is anodized but I don't think the anodization is very deep and the metal is softer than bar stock so I don't use it in saltwater either. The drag on both seems OK but I haven't really stressed either. They are cast/machined reels so they are not as strong as ones made from bar stock but they are a lot less expensive.
Ok .let me try this again..........."Fly rods" guys......not fly reels. let's start over....lol
bump for info
Oops. Sorry for the misdirection. I do like the reel though.

Smernsky,
I used to have an Albright 9 foot 7/8 weight. With just a couple of false casts, I could get it out to 60-65 feet. But that distance seems to be where my brick wall is. In the hands of a better caster I'm sure it would perform better. I said I used to have one because I traded it off. It was just too big for the kind of fishing I do. The fit and finish on the rod was very good, and I believe it felt like a med/fast rod to me. If it was a 5 weight, I believe I would have kept it. For $80, they are a dandy deal.
Hope that helps.
Got one seven/eight weight and like it. I've lawn cast it, haven't fished it yet. Fit and finish is very nice and comparable with anything at it's price point.

I've got the 4/5wt GP rod, got it back in October during their closeout. I fish a 5wt line on it and really like it, nice medium-fast action. No complaints here.
