Anyone know where I can get a few Mustad R72's before they disappear? I'm looking for sizes 10 to 16.
Thx.

Have you searched online? I know many of the sponsors log onto the board here - maybe one of them has some in stock.
Question - is there any reason you couldn't go to the S82? The curve is a little different but if I understand correctly the S82 is 3x heavy and 2x long and the R72 is 2x heavy and 2x long so you'd be getting a slightly heavier hook but the same length.
Would that work for you?

You might look here and see if he has any left. They do show up on his web site and I have dealt with them several times and have always been satisfied:

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
Why would the R72 be disappearing? It's the new Signature line that is replacing the Classic 9671.

It was announced that the R72 was being discontinued from the Signature line. Scroll to the bottom on the following link:

Got it... just after I posted...I found the reference. The replacement hook is listed as being the S82
For me it doesn't matter that much. I tie on what ever I have laying around. A round bend or sproat... doesn't matter to me.

The replacement for the 9671 is the R73-9671.

A very unscientific comparison I just made has the new R73 a tad longer than the TMC 5262. If you have some 5262s it will give you a rough idea. There arn't any real standards between mfgs, but the good thing is the fish don't seem to care. What is the old saying, "half the tying is for the tyer, the other half for the fish". LOL
