Default A couple wee wets from the vise

I've finally broken through the case of the tying blahs and tied up a few of my favorite wee wets. Enjoy.

Very nice Ree. Glad to see you got rid of the blahs. These wee wets are some of my favorite flies to tie. You gotta love em.

Bugman, the spiders are tied on a Daiichi 1640 2 X Short size 14. On the spiders, I usually don't go smaller than a 16.

The flymphs are on a Mustad 94842 size 14. I like the turned up eye for flymphs. It just looks right. I tie olives down to 18, but that's about as small as I go.

The Blue Eared Pheasant Herl and Dun is on a Grip 14723 size 14. It's a really elegant hook with a wide gap and sharp as all get out.

The Pheasant Tail and Furnace is on a Mustad 3906 size 16. I like this when BWO's are emerging. It's taken for a BWO nymph a lot.

Rookie, Thanks. Feels good to sit at the vise for a spell. Good thing to, I'm tying at the Oregon Tying Expo next weekend. You guessed it, North Country Wet Flies.

Prob the same reason i'm up......work.

Nice looking wet flies. Tied up about 2 dozen hares ear and partridge a couple nights ago that should do the trick. I'm not familiar with the patterns you posted however and will have to tie a few up.

Nice flys. Like you I hardly ever go and tie anything less than 14. My eyes are just to old. I was just in an "Old Farts Swap" and we have a size 26, 28 and 32 tied up by different tiers. They are so small I am afraid to use them as I wouls lose them.

Love the comment about "sorry for the messy eye". Damn us fly tiers are a picky bunch.

Those all look fantastic. Classic lines that I see fish just eating up. Now for the real question: How do you like to fish them and in what circumstances?

On another topic, I saw a guy talking about which fly to choose and I thought that it was like a carpenter spending a huge amount of time to select a hammer, but never learning how to build anything with it. After we have the fly, what do you do with it. I'm waiting and wanting to learn.
