    Default Fly Patterns

    Hello,

I am going to be fishing teh Au Sable river this year. I need some patterns for June and July that are easy to tie and work good. It would help id you could include a recipe and possibly even a picture. Thanks

Go to http://www.gateslodge.com/hatches.htm and check out the hatch chart for those two months. It will be a good starting point. Also, if you can narrow down the time period somewhat you can save yourself tying a bunch of patterns.

Don't forget to come to the MI FI 2009 on the Au Sable. BD will be along shortly to tell you the time and particulars. (First week in July or so, I think.) As for flies I think parachute Adams in size 12 - 18 work for me, alsong with soft hackles; Ladys Fishfinder has also worked as has EHC. Dennis Potter's patterns like these work well.
I hope to meet you at the MI-FI.

Wet and dry versions of the Skunk, black and cinnamon versions of ants, & Parachute Patriots.
    <whispering>(woolly buggers)
BWO dries & emergers in sizes 18 & 20. Mahogany duns (BWO but olive brown) in size 16 and maybe 18. Tricos in size 18 (if you're an optimistic sort) down to as small and you can stand; both duns and spinners.
Golden stoneflies, nymphs and dries. Isonychia dries and nymphs (and maybe emergers). Green drakes.
    And, of course, bread flies...

Here is a link that might help you.
