Default How many fish do you need to catch

In a lifetime? Is that next fish a psychological "need" or pleasantry? Could you put away your rods if need be, and have no regrets of missed opportunity?

I fish to live, and live to fish. The fact is that fishing is how I renew my mind and body, for the task of making a living. I will only stop when I can no longer get to the rivers.

knots, RW here,

I've caught more (actually way more) than my share of fish in my lifetime. Lately one or two fish is all it takes to satiate the catching appetite, but more important to me now is the "just being there" aspect of this most pleasant of pastimes.

As far as put away the rods? Never!

Later, RW

When it gets to the point that I "have" to catch fish, I can gaurantee I'll be finding a new hobby.

I don't "need" to catch another fish (or shoot another bird, for that matter). Enjoyment is no longer determined by limits or counts. However, if I had to put away my rods or shotguns, you might just as well put away me......

I don't "have" to catch fish, but I sure have to fish. Besides, I received a doctors prescription which says:

quote:

I prescribe a weekly dose with at least one fish each time.

How's that for a hall pass?

Hey LF,

Your Doc know's all about the "Good"
drugs. He's obviously prescribed one of
the best for you.*G*

I can't say it's not about the fish for
me. Obviously it is. But just seeing a
particularly large red eared sunfish try to
eat a fly of my tying is a real thrill
for me. If I flub the strike, it takes
away very little from the experience. This
week, I never made it into my red ear holes.
My buddy and I were almost in the swamp
when we saw something taking kritters just
under the surface. Never did ID the food
source, but finally figured out that they
would take a tiny imitation of Al's Crappie
Candy fished in quick strips. We caught
and released feisty white perch on the
three weights until darkness sent us back
to the boat ramp. Both of us giggling like
a couple of kids.*G* It's all good! Warm

Oh, I need to catch as many as I can. If the day ever comes when catching a fish is no longer the best part of fishing then I'll take up sailing or hiking and leave the rod at home.

Sometimes I just like to sit on the stream bank and annoy my buddy;

"Come on catch a fish"

"When are you going to catch a fish?"

"Time to catch a fish"

One day I was doing just that, the sun set was beautiful, I had my camera out, and we hadn't caught a thing all day.

"The sun set is just right" I yell to him, "time to catch a fish!!"

You can guess what happened. Got some good shots.
