    Default jacksonville fly fishing

My wife and I will be in Jacksonville FL the first week of June 2009 and I would love to do some fly fishing. I've never fished in saltwater and would love to try for some redfish.

Does anyone have any recommendations on guides in the Jacksonville area??? I'm am traveling for work, so it would be a later afternoon outing.

    Thanks,

    Joel

Default Salty Feather.com fly shop for local info

John, runs the local shop here, and it is very nice.
There are many local guides one of the best is Larry Miniard. Johns web site has all the information. You may also want to check out Jacksonville First Coast Fly Fishers. Good Luck and hope you enjoy our city.

You might want to post this on the Florida Sportsman forums. You should be able to get some guide recommendations.

Here are a couple of links: Vaughn Cochran 's Black Fly Outfitters is in town http://www.vaughncochranart.com/CartHome.aspx Vaughn is a very experienced guide and all around interesting person. Also Warren Hinrichs comes highly recommended from some friends of mine.

Also here is a link for the previously mentioned Salty Feather http://www.saltyfeather.com/Maintena...mList.aspx?t=G

I would book with John, David, or Larry if going through the Salty Feather

First Coast Fly Fishers is the local FFF affiliated club. You can check out past news letters to get an idea of what to expect. http://www.fcff.org/

Come down and check out St Augustine while you're here. I'd offer to take you out fishing but my kayak only seats one.

Or try Capt Charles Parker for fishing out of St. Augustine (which may be a better choice of locations for tailing reds)

You won't be dissapointed, Rich is a great guy. If I thought you were interested in Kayaking he would have been tops on my list. Tell him "Demps" says hello.
