Thread: Clearwater River Fish Porn

    Default Clearwater River Fish Porn

One of our SE Idaho guys, Kenly Bitton, fished the Clearwater for a couple days.

He hooked eight and landed four.

The big one - first photo went - 41.5" and weighed in at 21 pounds. The other three measured in the high 30"s in length and high teens in pounds.

I am not at liberty to divulge any additional information on how, when and where.

    Enjoy.

    John

P.S. As usual, the BIG one got away.
    The fish are always right.

    Default BIG steel...

Nice fish John, thanks for sharing...I'm hoping you took the pics and had some action also.

    Cheers,

I notice both fish still had the adipose fins. Nice!
Happiness is wading boots that never have a chance to dry out.

    Brings back memories....

Used to catch a few of those Clearwater fish when they would take a rest in the Deschutes.

    Not me behind the camera.

That kind of fishing is not really my thing. Fun talking to the guys who do it and seeing the pics, but for myself, I want to be on my feet and moving, on smaller streams and rivers where there is a chance for consistent, if not constant, action. Trout are just fine for me.

Looks like it could be frostbite!
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

    Hey John,
I too agree that those are nice fish BUT ,like you, I'm not that curious as to where they are from. Give me a small cold stream with 12-20' trout and I'm in heaven. Also, ain't a rod in my meager arsenal that could even come close to handling a fish that big.

    Default From the bank...

...is my favorite way to hook steel John...and actually, all the other fish I go after as well. The boat is good for getting places you can't otherwise. I'm happier on the banks of the river/lake/stream and on the trails to and from.

I've caught all my steelhead from shore or wading. I go to the water not only to fish but to get a look around and for the exercise.

I imagine that you've caught steelhead though and hopefully to suit your style, i.e. from the bank or while wading. Nothing I enjoy more than casting from a long bar such as many of those you've shown in your posts.

    Cheers,

    MontanaMoose
