Default San Juan Worm & Punch Yarn

I was fishing a lake and caught some bows on a Colorado Caddis. When cleaning them I found they were full of little thin red worm like creatures I believe Ducksterman posted a picture of these critters a while back. Anyway John Scott's recent post on a furled punch yarn fly rekindled my thought of making a fly to look like the worm. Even the thinest chenille is too thick so I took some punch yarn & furled it and came up with a pretty good imitation. Fly in picture is a little over an inch long and tied on a #16 9671 Mustad. Don't suspose this is an original idea but just in case someone is interested.

Good idea, Tim, and a clever use of the yarn.

Those are blood worms BTW...midge larva.
