Default Not fishing, but last night I think I was Nailed by a car.

Last night I think I was a victim of hit and run while I was on my Mountain bike. Concussion, so I don't recall the events slightly before and awhile after I could have been struck. Chest Xray and Catscan came back fine, though my side hurts and my ear is mangled, I will live to tie another fly, which I am seriously thankful for.
I think I'll tie a few today as Doc says to remain of work til Friday.

Didn't your mom ever tell you that playing in the street can be dangerous? It's much safer in a nice stream or pond. Yes, fly fishing is much safer.
But seriously, I'm glad to hear that you weren't too badly hurt. Take care of yourself.
My prescription, go fishing as soon as you can.

Glad you are okay! I take it you were on the road and not on a trail thru the woods? Might eventually come back to you... No claw marks, right? No missing wallet... probably was a vehicle with a intoxicated driver... Someone stop to help you? If you remember anything let us know...Get well...Bob

    Newfoundlander,

Glad to hear you're all right. It's a shame that most drivers of automobiles don't give cyclists the proper repsect or distance they deserve.

Once, I had a pretty bad crash and suffered a concussion. Don't remember falling or hitting the ground, but I do recall the circumstances that caused the fall. I awoke as I slid across the highway on my head and chin, vaguely aware of an automobile headed my direction. Fortunately, the auto stopped before hitting me, though I had a large gouge in my chin and was pretty well banged up.

Most importantly, I was wearing a helmet. I'm glad you're all right.

    Best Wishes,

    Fred

    Mike,
Glad to hear you are ok. My daughter had a concussion once just falling off her bike & she remembered nothing....luckily, a young man from down the street saw it & got her safely home.
Many times, these "near tragedies" can teach us something...were you wearing highly visible, or reflective clothing? I have, at times, been dangerously close to a "night biker" before I could see them as they had NO reflectors & all dark clothing. Just a thought.
    Tie some good ones!
    Mike

Glad you are ok. Hope they find the person that hit you. Did you have a helmet on? When I was 18 months old my mom fell down a flight of stairs with me in her arms. She got banged up pretty bad and I got a triple skull fracture out of the deal. What doesn't kill us can only make us stronger.

I had the same simtoms when the wife hit me with a rolling pin after I spilled a bag of # 8 shot on the carpet.

Apparently a lady filed a report with the police station that she was coming
out of her driveway when she hit an adult on a mountain bike with her car.
Apparently I said I was fine and walked home, they dont call me the Bull at work for nothin,
    LOL.

She claims to have left the driveway head first and didn't back out which I
guess places the fault on me cause apparently backing out of ones driveway
    is illegal.

Well its nice to have a bit of closure on this one, I suspect that goofy looking bike helmet saved more than I will ever know.
