Default Not ff/Way to remember recovering American soldiers

Received an e-mail the other day suggesting sending a Christmas card to the following:

    A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
    6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
    Washington, Dc 20307-5001

Might not be a bad idea to send to any local VA Center/Hospital in your area also.

If this is not appropriate here please delete it.

Should have checked at Snopes.com first. Mail addressed to no specific soldier at Walter reed may be considered a security risk etc. according to Snopes. Check links from Normand, ausable ny & Joe

Disregard above suggestion and instead mail can be sent addressed to:

    Holiday Mail For Heroes
    P.O. Box 5456
    Capitol heights, MD 20791-5456

Must be postmarked no later then December 10th though.

What a great idea. I'll send a box (or two) out next weekend. Thanks a bunch for the idea.

I've had to post this on another website because cards will not be forwarded if you send them to Walter Reed Hospital. Please read this Snopes article:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/christmas/walterreed.asp

Instead send them to the "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program mentioned in the link. The soldiers will receive them through that program.

My sister started an email campaign last year to get people to send cards to Walter Reed Hospital for this same very good cause and everybody who sent them got them all returned.
