My favorite for trout is the now discontinued Ross Cimmaron. I think it's great. I hear the Ross Flycast and Flystart reels are really a great bargain. You have any experience with them?

Uh...
Ford, no wait, Chevy!!! Maybe Mazda...oh, you said reels....
Hardy...or is it Scientific Anglers today....Okuma....no wait, Bass Pro shops makes the best reels....or was that Ross or maybe Galvan....Cabela's has great reels....heard of a freind of my wifes third cousin twice removed that knew of a guy who's gilrfriend's brother's roommate caught a great white shark on a Cabela's fly reel....might not be true though, I don't actually know the person.
My persoanl favorite tends to be the one hanging on the end of whatever rod I happen to be catching fish with.
They are ALL fine. Why does it matter is the 'real' (pun intended) question.
Jut my opinion, though, I'm often churlish about such things in the mornings....
Bless his heart.

It Just Doesn't Matter....
Old medalists. Especially the 1494 and 1495's they cover 4-8wts for me..outside of a teton tioga they are all I really use.

As hard as this is to believe, I know, I would have to vote with Buddy on this one!! What ever reel is attached to which ever rod, and is gettin' the job done ... THAT'S the best, most favorite one! Love ya, Buddy!!
Trouts don't live in ugly places.
A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.
Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.
Thanks Betty!
I'm still curious about why it matters.
I've had only one fish 'on the reel', and that was an accident, in the last fifteen years (I don't fish saltwater or carp). I could do with a cleat....or just pile the line on the boat deck....

I was always taught to play the fish off the reel so as to let the rod and reel tire the fish. It's also pretty easy to break fish off by strtipping in line by hand. And, in the event of a bigger fish, you might want to let it run a bit.
Doesn't matter. I use it to house my line between fishing trips
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
For the price, I really like the albright GP and bugatti reels. That is a lot of reel for $35 or so.
Outside of that, my Trion is my favorite.
