Thread: redington fly reels question

    Default redington fly reels question

I am looking to buy a new reel for my 4wt bamboo. I do not have a lot of money to spend on the reel, say under 130 bucks. Cabelas has some reels on sale and I was hoping to get some opinions from people that may own these reels. I am not looking for suggestions on other reels at this moment, just the ones I am about to mention.

Cabelas has the redington gd for 70 bucks, the ross colorado for 80 bucks, and the redington cd for 120 bucks.

Any opinions on these three reels?

I use the GDs quite a bit, Good reel. Smooth drag. Elegant. Lightweight.

I have the Colo's too. simpole. Bomb proof. Click Paw. Can't beat them for simplicity and factory support. Plain Jane.

    Both are good bets.

how "quiet" is the gd? I prefer the quietness of a disc drag than the audible click and pawl. IS the GD pretty quiet?
