    Default Flies landing wrong

I've noticed that this year I've had quite a few instances with flies either landing upside down or floating with the tail straight down into the water and the wings parallel to it. I don't remember having this problem in the past, but it's getting annoying. Seems like it's happening on perfectly well tied flies

What can I possibly be doing wrong?

    different length leader?
    different hooks?
have you changed your casting style?
new line - if your line is not turning the fly over then the line might be the problem.

    Have someone watch you cast.

The 'emerger style' I am not sure what would be causing that if you are using the same flies and floatants. Emergers are not all that bad to fish sometimes.

As for being upside down, that is very common, happens all the time. I just give a little twitch of the rod and the fly flops over to the correct side.

I haven't changed my style, but I've always had faster action rods. Midway through the summer I got a shorter, softer rod for the small creeks. I don't throw nearly as tight or fast of a loop with it, so maybe that's it - it at least rung a bell to watch for it.

    Thanks!

Larry - thanks for the tip about flipping a fly.

How do REAL flies land on water? Do they all land "up"? Do they all reach the surface "up"?
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
