Diseased Trout??

Sorry I don't have a photo to illustrate but maybe someone may have an idea on this.
Recently caught what appeared to be a very healthy rainbow...good color, no obvious physical deformaties, good, strong fighting fish. Upon cleaning it, however, notice that appended to the entrails were what appeared to be groups of growths, looking somewhat like pale, white fingers, about the size of a small pencil, and each about 2 inches long. Probably 50 or so such growths. First impression was some sort of intestinal worms. Have never seen this before. Any ideas on what this could be?

Could those be the begining stages of eggs?

I remember white strips of fat in some of the Rainbows I have cleaned.
Could that be what they are?

Perhaps it had one of the diseases on this page here, but was in the early stages and only showed a few symptoms?

Just a guess..some kind of parasite like a tape worm..Nothing that some hot grease wont kill. Cheers.
