Default "THANK YOU, dixieangler for the FOTW"

    Robert,

Thank you so much for the FOTW tying instructions! I was one of the lucky FAOL members who have received some of these from Robert and they will catch fish. I have been waiting for it to come up as a FOTW and I will be tying a bunch for myself.

    Thank you for sharing....

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.

    DixieAngler,
Thanks from me as well. I had been trying to find a simple way to tail these little rascals.
I ran across this at Wally World a couple of weeks ago.

It's 2 mm craft foam that already has an adhesive back on it. I still super glue it to the hook.

One thing I do different is to put the fold at the bottom, next to the hook. this does 2 things that I like.
    1. The majority of the foam has to go above the hook.
    2. The cut edjes are on top, where they can be colored or coated and be hidden from the fishies.

I've "tied" a couple up, but haven't fished them yet. It's just to confounded hot over here.

I couldn't find the ones I tied the other day. I may have given them away.
    Here's one I tied up for y'all.

Thanks Warren and crazy4oldcars. Yes, other "plastic" type paper will work. Steve Crosby sent me some really nice prescaled type paper that I have used in place of the iridescent paper that has worked equally well. Neat idea, crazy4oldcars. Just flip the body over with the crease on the bottom. I might give that a try.

Default This little guy liked it!

Finally was able to test the fly yesterday AM. I had a couple of bigger LMB follow it, but they wanted it to be moving faster. I finally got got it all together for this little guy. Had one a little bit bigger, maybe 12 inches, got off when I started fumbling for the camera before I got him in.

The fly held up fairly well after 2 fish, just lost a little bit of the shiney off of the bottom.
