Thread: Work in Progress

    Default Work in Progress

Working on a Batson RX8+ 9' 5wt. Decided to try some simple cross wraps (for the first time). Below are the bare wraps before CP. I will post the finished product once I have the rod completed.

I'm not a big fan of fancy wraps on fly rods, but that looks very nice. I'm more of a minimalist myself. You are going to love the RX-8+. It is about the sweetest casting "fast" action rod I've ever cast.

it looks nice but its not something i would want on my rods. i'm in the minimalist camp also.

however, theres some really neat thread art out there

I normally go with the simple is better mentality. Most of my rods are either with stealthier colors and solid guide and butt wraps. I understand the zen of simplicity but just wanted to go for something a little different and a bit more challenging for myself. And for 45% off the blank at Hook & Hackle I figured I had nothing to lose (not advertising)!

Nice work and good match of colors, I really like it .

Its 100% ok to advertize H&H on here as they are a sponsor and help keep FAOL afloat. I have always gotten quality stuff from them and never had a problem Ron couldn't solve. He has some good prices on blanks right now.

Those prices for the RX-7+ and RX-8+ from Hook and Hackle are great. IMHO these are the two best blanks on the market. I have an RX-7+ 5wt and an RX-8+ 8wt and I'm currently building an RX-7+ 6wt. I too have purchased a lot from Hook and Hackle, though their service can be a challenge at times.

Looks more like "art in progress" than "work in progress." Nice pattern and a great color combination / layout. Looking forward to the pics of the finished product ( piece of art ).
    The fish are always right.
