I just got off the phone with one of the maintenance guys at the dam and the current tailwater temp is just above 68 degrees. That means the further down we go (like in the park) the temps will be higher, probably too high to not unneccessarily stress the fish. My guess is the peak temps will be in the mid 70's. So until the water cools, I'm not going to go over.
It would appear all the rains we got this year are limiting the amount of cold water available for release. The folks at the dam are taking weekly reading of the lake temp profile and finding little, if any, suitable cold water, even at the lower levels in the lake. This does not sound good. I'll keep you in the loop as I see how thing go.
