Default Need Help, Yellow Sally Nymph Pattern

    Hi All,

Going to Yellowstone this summer, and one of the other guys going said we could use a yellow sally nymph pattern.

I don't know what to tie. I tie the Kaufmann stonefly nymphs, and can tie those in the right color for yellow sally nymphs, but don't know what color or size. Any help on size and color will be appreciated.

Other pattern suggestions will also be welcome.

    Thanks and regards,

    Gandolf

    Gandolf,
I looked at Blue Ribbon Flies site (West Yellowstone), and I noticed two Stonefly Nymph patterns.
    GM Nymph & Rubberleg Stone.

    Gandolf -

Take a look - neat pattern for the adult with a tying video. Nymph size a bit bigger.

    Smile FAOL Yellow Sally Stonefly

    Gandolf,

Here is the FAOL posted Yellow Sally Stonefly fron the fly tying section. If you don't want to use the glass beads, they do look great, just use something else.

    Hi Gandolf,

A while back some had suggested a partridge and yellow soft hackle for yellow sallies. Probably want the partidge dyed yellow too if you have it.

    I'd suggest a Yellow Copper John, in a size 14 - 16

Check the Fly of the Week archives. Benjo posted a Yellow Sally nymph that looks nice. I found it by using the search box on the home page.
