Thread: Need Orvis Reel Repair Recommendations

  1. Default Need Orvis Reel Repair Recommendations

I have a reel which was forgotten about one evening after doing some lawn casting with several rods.

I found the missing Orvis CFO III one afternoon while digging in the flowerbed.

I really would like to get it back into working order, there is no audible click and the spool barely turns, suggesting to me that it needs a good cleaning and possibly some new parts.

I haven't emailed Orvis of yet, never dealt with them on repair or warranty type work, though this seems to fall into the "dumbarse" repair category. LOL

    Thank you in advance.

Too bad that CFO didn't multiply and grow while it was in the flower bed. I'd contact Orvis. They have great customer serivice and for a fee should be able to get that reel in fine working order.

    Send it back to Orvis.
They will have it back in spiffy shape in no time.
I have sent both of my CFOs back now and then for cleaning and lubrication.

Orvis has a program that for ?? dollars you can send back your reel and they will recondition it for a fixed rate plus parts cost. They will also replace your backing and line, so if you don't want the backing and line part I think you have to tell them.

I have ordered parts for old CFO's from Orvis.
Pawls, line guard and spool latch cover. The prices were reasonable except for the chrome line guard....I think it was around $15...I sent it back and polished the old one.

Orvis Reel Overhaul Service in East Dorset, VT. They are very good, have spare parts & have a quick turn-around time. Go online at Orvis & get the work order request form to send in with the reel.
