I picked up some very small black beads from a craft store, to use as a pupal in the center of the sequins. I like the way they turned out. The beads are a lot more uniform and make the eyes all look the same. Make sure you buy the smallest beads you can find, because they magnify after the eyes are complete. Just fill the hole with black acrylic paint.

Tony...I saw your previous post on this...and tried it [only once] ...and didn't know how you oriented the bead...I see now you painted the hole.
I would suggest that Buddy's black dressmaker's pins accomplish the same thing with the added bonus of having a shaft to pierce deer hair or foam, etc...or to tie in....both require the painting ...nowadays...
Seems we are trying to figure the best way to create the pupil...and it probably also depends on what kind of fly we are tying.
I tried the pins with a very small ball. They work great. I like the stem sticking out the back. Makes it a lot easier to mount eyes on most materials.
