Hey Folks -

Just received from and replied to an email from Deanna that I won the Elkhorn 1489-6 Spey Rod in the April drawing.

What a great way to start a May morning that shows an inch of fresh snow on the ground.

I've been thinking about trying spey for the last couple years but haven't had the spare change to invest in a spey outfit. This will let me wander into a whole different part of the world of fly fishing.

Just wanted to publicly thank FAOL and Elkhorn for making my new adventure possible.

Hope to post some fishing reports in the not too distant future refering to this rig as the weapon of choice !!

When I registered, I had the feeling "I think I might win it this time!" I get the same feeling when I go to a baseball game, "I think I might actually catch a foul ball this time!" I have gone to major league baseball games my whole life and I still have not caught a foul ball.
The next Braves game that I go to, I will still have that same feeling though.

Elkhorn makes a great rod. I have a 5wt. I will be purchasing a 8wt from them in the next week or two. A Spey rod will be next on my list.

For some funny reason... "I think I just might win a subscrption to "Fly Fusion" magazine this month."

John, Congrats on the big win. Elkhorn does make a fine two handed rod. I purchased their 12'6" 6wgt two hander for my wife for a Valentines Day gift. She is one happy camper, loves the rod, landed her first steelhead with it.
