I would like suggestions for a good reference book - or web site, with comprehensive information (text and good quality photographs) on tying deer hair type flies --- mainly for Bass fishing.
Thank you,

Thank you,
Go on the net and look up chris helm.
He has a web site, and many books and videos.
He is an outstanding deer hair tyer.
Have a great weekend,
chris
Bass Flies by Dick Stewart is a good book that shows how to spin, pack, and stack deer hair as well as many Bass fly patterns (more than just deer hair flies). There are mostly color illustrations rather than photos but very detailed. It is not a step-by-step tying sequence book though other than the deer hair tying illustrations.

Chris Helm visited out FFF club---His deerhair bass bugs were so dense that they were as hard as cork!
I'd look at his method for sure!

Hop on a plane this coming Wednesday and head to Cleveland. The master himself, Chris Helm, will be our guest speaker at the North Coast Fly Fishers next meeting. I have been lucky enough to watch him tie a couple of times at our annual Expo.
