    Default Fishing Sam's Confetti Fly

This fly, is another attempt at using my Granddaughter's "Fabric Paint" as a tying body material.
The "tying" (if it can be called that, technically??), of this one and the "Gold Fish",(I've also, posted here, recently), are nearly identical, the only two exceptions being the paint color, of course and the tail of this fly is made with "Hareline Ice Wing Fiber-Lt.Blue Pearl Smolt", instead of the Ice Wing Fiber-"Copper", used on the "Gold Fish".

In four hours of fishing today, Sam and I between us, took a 23 fish assortment of; Black Crappie, Bluegill,Yellow Perch and a single, suicidal, 9" LM Bass.

Again, we fished Cullaby Lake, by the house here, which is also a "dumping ground" for the ODFW hatchery breeding program.
So, I'm nearly positive, that Sammy also hooked into one of the large hatchery plants using this fly.
When the fish struck, she set the hook. The fish did not take too kindly to her actions and headed off down the middle of the lake.
When her backing was beginning to show, the fish suddenly put on one, last, burst of speed and popped her 5X tippet against the drag, as if made of sewing thread!!?

Her "typical fisherman's comments", made when her line was left floating slack upon the lake's surface, will remain a "secret" between her and her Gampa, forever.
I don't have a CLUE as to "where she learned such words, to use at such a time as this", but I can only imagine,it was probably her Grama!?!

Regardless, here's the "Confetti Fly" of Sam's creation.............

And, if you want to try and make either, the "Gold Fish" or the "Confetti Fly"... this is the fabric paint we're using.

"Gampa" I guess, SHOULD prove that Sammy exists!?!
    Hope, this comes out, alright!?

    Dorkey,
Denial is not a river in Egypt. We ALL know just where cute innocent little Sammy learned those awful words. Just wait until she repeats them in front of Grandma or Mommy. If you're really lucky, it will not be at a time when Grandma and Mommy are in the room together.

It's fun at the lake. But when (and it is when not if) little Sammy cuts loose with a string of profanity that will peel the varnish off of the kitchen table and when (and again it is when not if) it's done in front of Grandma or Mommy you're in for a serious lecture.

It doesn't matter where she may have learned the words or their appropriate use in a sentence, it is YOU who will be blamed for it. Trying to talk your way out of it is futile.

Yes, I am speaking from personal experience.

Paul, neat flys, even better story. I'm glad Sammy likes to fish with grandpa. I can see my grandfather's face when I think about fishing with him when I was about Sammy's age.

When I was 6 or 7, PawPaw was my hero. When I was 7, I thought he was the greatest man who ever lived. Now that I'm 47, I'm pretty sure the I had it figured out at 7. With the exception of Jesus, Skip Perry may well have been the greatest man who ever lived and to this day, he's still my hero.

He died suddenly from a massive stroke when I was 7 but in my mind he will always be the guy who taught me how to throw a baseball, let me sit on his lap and operate the steering wheel of his car, taught me to appreciate music, and taught me how to thread a worm on a fish hook.

Paul, the memories you're creating with Sammy now will, in her eyes, make you the greatest man who ever lived. When she's a woman with kids of her own, she'll realize that as a child, she had it pretty much all figured out.

That, my friend, is a very good thing!

    Jeff

OK ... tell us the process! Thread base? Single layers? Dry between layers?

Buy the way, I have the cutest 7 year old grandson ....
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

    Paul and Sam -

By the time you swing through Idaho on your way to Michigan, you will probably need a trailer behind the van to haul all of Sam's paint flies. Bring a couple for me, okay ??

John; Send me your address and I'll send you a one of each, now!

HRH Betty:I've already put the tying instructions in our "Fly Tying" section, here on the BB, under "Sam's Gold Fish Fly"!

Tying God, (Jeff, to some): I'm doing current research to find the culprit behind my sweet Granddaughter's blueish verbiage. I DO have my suspicions, already, but I have to be very careful casting blame. It could cost me dinner and other affairs I'd care not to lose at this time.

    Hey Folks -

I would like all to take note that Paul was dealing with Sam's "blueish verbiage" BEFORE she ever set foot and wet a line in Idaho.

    Paul,
The heck with you.....I can't WAIT to spoil Sammy in Michigan! She's a doll!!!
That being said, we ALL have the CUTEST Kids, Grandkids, Nieces, Nephews, Neighbor Kids, etc. Bottom line is that there is NO greater feeling in the world than having a child look up to you. For me, THAT is the ultimate success in life.
God Bless Sammy and all the other "little people" we have been Blessed with.
    Sammy's "Uncle" Mikey
FAOL..All about caring, sharing, & good friends!!
