This book was my first fly tying book, and was a tremendous help. The third edition can't be anything but better.

I have both the Tying Nymph and Dry Flies and they are excellent books. Both books go into a lot of detail on materials and techniques.

I have both the Tying Nymph and the Dry fly book and they are meat and potatoes, good info. You might try Mayflies Top to Bottom by Shane Stalcup it is a piece of cherry pie.
See you on the trail, Grunt
