    Default 1 wgt bamboo

Yesterday,I tried a 1 weight WF line on an old cane rod I bought in Germany about 1952. It cast beautifully and today I tried plane running line on it. Again it cast wery well, making 60 ft casts with no problems. Anyone know what the weight of running line is? I don't have a scale.

    Sounds good..
I fish a 3wh quite a bit and really like it, I will have to give the 1wg a go.

    Hey RW

Anyone that uses a profile line like yours can't be all bad!

Can you feel the 1wg rod load you know that
great feeling like the rod is singing at ya!

That feel that really can't be discribed it has to be experienced..

I suppose its in the correct rod balanced with a good line that matters.

I must admit that the play of the fish
concerns me with a ultra light rod..

I am open minded and will give it a go next time I stop in at my local flyshop or win one at the carnaval with my son.. LOL

    Steve,
casting 60 ft with a 1 wt cane rod is no big thing in itself. a good caster could do quite a bit better. But on the tiny streams this rod was used on (in Bavaria) the usual casting distance was in the 10 to 35 foot range. Largest trout landed on it was 21 1/2 big fat and beautiful inches. Largest fish a 5 lb Largemouth Bass here in NY. (pretty much an accident).
