It always feels good to catch the first fish of the year.

Hey coonriverdog it's good to hear the fish are biting down where you're at! I hope things get going here soon.
Good job coonriver. I slipped out on a couple occasions and flipped an ul jig around a bit. Caught some crappie but they were *deep*. I know, I should be embarrassedbut I like the flyrod a whole lot better when they are in the top five feet of the water column.

We're doing an open river this weekend in canoes. Mainly to check out the eagles and to breathe something beside cathair. Lakes still have 2 ft. or more of ice on 'em. Probably take a spinning rod and some cut shrimp for cats. JGW
