    Default first fish

Caught my first fish of the year out of a pond Sunday here in Iowa.
Surface temp was 45, caught bass and crappies on beadhead black wooly buggers!!!!

It always feels good to catch the first fish of the year.

Hey coonriverdog it's good to hear the fish are biting down where you're at! I hope things get going here soon.

Good job coonriver. I slipped out on a couple occasions and flipped an ul jig around a bit. Caught some crappie but they were *deep*. I know, I should be embarrassed but I like the flyrod a whole lot better when they are in the top five feet of the water column.

    Glad you found some.

Both of you are ahead of me.
Hopefully I will get some action Saturday.

We're doing an open river this weekend in canoes. Mainly to check out the eagles and to breathe something beside cathair. Lakes still have 2 ft. or more of ice on 'em. Probably take a spinning rod and some cut shrimp for cats. JGW
