Thread: Done with G. Loomis...

I went to the G. Loomis site and I observed part of the ad. It wasn't overly intelligent, but it didn't make me mad. Ads are a dime a dozen and mostly fluff. Any company should be judged by their products and service, only.

Buddy I took a look at the ad and I didn't have as strong a reaction as you did - but I didn't care for it either. It just doesn't fit in with my ideas of what fly fishing is all about. And I don't consider fly fishing a "religion" either. But I've never been a fan of G. Loomis stuff anyway.

I don't think you needed to apologize at all. You voiced your opinion and that's all.

I just saw the latest ad from the Nevada Tourist Bureau, to help promote Vegas tourism. (Like, there's NOT enough people there, already?)
Anyway............... it's a full color shot of WAYNE NEWTON, standing in a stream, wearing a black tux and chest waders and casting a fly rod!?
"There is MORE to Los Vegas, than just gambling", is the ad's catch phrase.
I saw THAT ad and immediately went and threw away my tuxedo, that I always wore for formal fishing affairs!
(Yep, the ad's real, latest issue of "The Smithsonian", magazine and a mailer ad from AARP.)

I gave my GLX a workout today and I intend to tomorrow. I think they make great rods and to throw away their products based on one ad that you didn't like is just rediculous. Some of the best rods out there and by far the best warranty in the industry.

Loomis rods look particularly nice right next to enormous trout.

    Default good for you, Buddy.

There are plenty of private rod and reel makers who deserve our business. G. Loomis is no longer G. Loomis. Mr. Loomis hasd dedicated his retirement to the betterment of the sport in a big way. Too bad he sold his name when he sold the company.
    Good fishing to you, Buddy.

I think you need to smoke a good cigar. Sip on some good single malt and chill out. Life is too short to let some ad get you all worked up.

Default Let those without bait cast the 1st fly

An overreaction to an overreaction, I've never been guilty of either , is indeed an
overreaction that to be criticized for is the ultimate overreaction and......well life is to short.
