Looks like Spring might be here. The fish are "out". Caught like 7 bass yesterday. All fairly small...1/2-2lb. They have the run of the pond until the big boys start stirring.

Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
Sounds like fun.
You fish primarily sub-surface right? (seems like I remember that)
Were they up closer to the surface warming up or still hanging out down low?

I posted a report in the Fishing Reports forum.
The ice has been of the local public ponds for several days now, and some of the fish are biting...
Last night I caught 13 bluegills, 3 crappies. I tried a different pond during lunch today, but got skunked...

pond fishing is about all we have here in MO. The flooding has the streams way up. Got some blue gill & even a hickory shad, all on a bugger.
Wild One they were all mid-level. The pond I fish is at most 8-10 ft deep so there is no "deep" water. Caught most at about 1-3 ft deep. They weren't hitting anything on the surface.............yet

FishnDave...the ice has been off our ponds for several days too..

Things getting well underway here in these parts ...
However, most of the action is sub-surface using emergers while hardly any surface action. Always give a popper a try when I'm out and so far only caught one bream with a black & white.

I've been fishing the pond here. Haven't had a chance to hit the creek yet. No waders and it's probably still too cold to hop in with shorts and sandals. I've had pretty good fishing out of the pond though. Nothing on the surface though. Just fox squirrel nymphs and woolly worms.
