Default Going to see a warm up here

Well, after a 6 inch snow here(West Tn.) on Saturday we'll see temps near 60 all week. The warm water fish should start moving here soon. Got a kayak 2 months ago and chomping at the bit to get out with it. Pics to come. Hopefully lots of them!!

  2. Default S'warmin' up here too

Took the willow stick out to the local conservation area lake. The blue gill were cooperative. This weekend is the Sow Bug Round-up in Arkansas. Spring can't be far off.
    Tight lines.

We are weeks away from open water in ND. Most lakes still have about three feet of ice cover. I envy those folks who are able to wet a line at this time of year.

Default It's Finally Getting Serious About Thawing Here

Almost all the snow is gone here and most of the rivers and streams are ice free. I took a peek at a marina and the ice has begun melting in the southeast corner. Yup, open water fishing is just around the corner and I have a batch of newly minted flies just waiting to take their first dip in the water in front of, I hope, a hungry fish.

Spent a couple of hours on a small pond today. I've been wanting to throw a fly on this one for a while.

    A nice bream.

    A fun little bass.

This is the pond. I'm standing in about the only decent place to fly cast.

I was using the rejects from some flies I tied for a pair of recent swaps. The gill was caught on a Modern Thief (Squirrely Swap), the bass on a Wolfpack Nymph (Pet Swap).

    Thumbs up Yeah...a great time!

Man...I'm finally going to stop pining for trout and focus on warm-water this year.

I've only ever caught one trout on a fly. That was this past year after the TPWD stocked a few places. Warm water is the only option in a 4 hr radius.
    It's a GOOD thing.
